And the color of the year is mocha mousse.

Heading your way, the pantone color of the year in this season’s floral designs. Colors are everywhere - even the unexpected mocha mousse.

Flowers follow fashion and yes, this is why we get excited when the pantone color of the year is announced. This year was a bit of a …well…sigh? A reflection of the times? It’s not brown exactly. It’s more like your favorite decadent dessert that is so indulgent that you split it with your dinner date. Mocha Mouse will be coming to a living room wall, bridesmaid dress, your kitchen appliances and yes even your bouquets this year. Believe it or not, it’s not that hard to find this color in cut flowers. Last year I grew a large crop of Rosanne Brown Lisianthus which if you were not keen on this specific color you might think the bloom had started to die. Not my favorite, but super interesting and will definitely be making its appearance this season. I also grow a fair amount of plum sunflowers, queen series zinnias and apricot statice all which flirt with the beige and brown tones. Again, fun to design with and makes us feel sophisticated - like that mocha mouse refrigerator on display and Yale Appliances ;) Be on the look out - you’ve been warned!
